Ingredients:

  • 1 smoked black forest Ontario ham
  • 1 1/2 cups (375 mL) apple cider or juice
  • 1 large apple, cored and cut in chunks
  • 1/2-inch (1 cm) piece fresh ginger, thinly sliced
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • Pinch ground nutmeg
  • 1 tbsp (15 mL) cornstarch
  • 1 tbsp (15 mL) water

Cooking Instructions:

  1. Place ham in slow cooker. Pour in cider. Add ginger, cinnamon and nutmeg. Sprinkle apple all around ham. Cover and cook on High for 2 hours or until thermometer reaches 140°F (60°C).
  2. Remove ham to cutting board and slice thinly.
  3. Whisk cornstarch with water and stir into slow cooker. Cook, stirring for 2 minutes or until thickened. Serve with ham.
