Molasses Mustard Ribs Rate this article: 4.1 29597 Print Yield:Serves 6-8 Prep Time: 10 minutes Cooking Time: 8 hours Ingredients: 2 racks Ontario side ribs (about 3 lb/1.5 kg total) 1 tbsp (15 mL) Montreal steak spice 1/2 tsp (2 mL) pepper 1/2 tsp (2 mL) salt, divided 1 cup (250 mL) water 1 small onion, sliced 2 cloves garlic, sliced 1/3 cup (75 mL) fancy molasses 1/3 cup (75 mL) cider vinegar 1/4 cup (60 mL) Dijon mustard 1/2 tsp (2 mL) garlic powder Cooking Instructions: Remove membrane from back of ribs of each rack. Cut each rack into 2 or 3 rib portions and place in slow cooker. Toss with steak spice, pepper and a pinch of the salt. Add water and sprinkle onion and garlic all over. Cover and cook on LOW for 8 hours or on HIGH for 4 hours. Remove ribs and discard liquid mixture from slow cooker. In a bowl, whisk together molasses, vinegar, mustard, garlic powder and remaining pinch of salt. Toss ribs with sauce and place on foil-lined baking sheet. Set broiler to High and place rack about 6 inches (15 cm) from broiler. Baste ribs with more sauce and broil for about 3 minutes. Baste again and broil for about 3 minutes or until golden and blistered. Serve ribs with any remaining sauce for dipping, if desired.
