A classic combination of pork and apples comes together easily in one skillet that is perfect served with noodles or potatoes to sop up any juices.

Ingredients:
- 4 boneless Ontario pork loin chops (about 1 lb/500 g)
- 1/2 tsp (2 mL) each salt and pepper
- 1/2 tsp (2 mL) dried thyme
- 1 tbsp (15 mL) each canola oil and butter
- 2 apples, cored and sliced
- 2 shallots, thinly sliced
- 3 tbsp (45 mL) light brown sugar
- 1/4 tsp (1 mL) ground cinnamon
- 1/2 cup (125 mL) apple cider or apple juice
- Chopped parsley
Cooking Instructions:
- Sprinkle pork chops all over with salt, pepper and thyme.
- In a large skillet, heat oil and butter over medium-high heat. Brown chops on both sides and remove to a plate.
- Add apples and shallots and sauté for about 3 minutes or until starting to brown. Reduce heat to medium. Sprinkle brown sugar and cinnamon all over apple mixture. Add apple cider and bring to a simmer.
- Return pork chops to pan and turn to coat with sauce. Simmer gently for about 8 minutes or until sauce is reduced slightly and meat thermometer registers 155ºF (68ºC) when tested.
Tip: Apple Cider with or without alcohol can be used in this recipe.
