Ingredients:
- 1 lb (454 g) ground Ontario pork
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp (15 mL) chili powder
- ¼ tsp (1 mL) each salt and pepper
- 1 tbsp (15 mL) oil
- ¾ cup (175 mL) salsa (mild, medium or hot)
- 8 to 12 hard taco shells or small flour tortillas
- Shredded lettuce, shredded cheese, diced tomatoes and sour cream (optional)
Cooking Instructions:
- In a skillet, cook pork, onion, garlic, chili powder, salt and pepper with oil over medium-high heat. Cook, stirring for about 5 minutes or until browned and no longer pink. Stir in salsa to combine. Remove from heat.
- Divide pork into taco shells and top with your favourite toppings to enjoy.
Taco Salad: Top crunchy salad greens (like romaine) with pork mixture and top with crushed tortilla chips, shredded cheddar, diced tomatoes and sour cream to enjoy.
Taco Bowl: Top rice or quinoa with pork mixture and top with crushed tortilla chips, shredded cheddar, diced tomatoes and sour cream to enjoy.
